Your mini Session Guide

What to wear and how to feel like yourselves on camera

A joyful family at a Christmas tree farm, with dad lifting laughing baby in the air while mom claps with delight.

You've booked a mini session. Twenty minutes, one location, and a whole lot packed in. This guide will help you get the most out of every one of them.

This guide is for you if:

  • You're wondering what to wear
  • You're not "photo people" (spoiler: many of my families say this and still crush it)
  • You have kids or dogs and are quietly bracing for chaos
  • You want your photos to feel like you

Let's break it all down ...

What to Wear

Here's the truth: Clothes matter, but now as much as how you feel in them. You should look like yourself — just elevated.

A couple shares a joyful candid moment together outdoors on an overcast day.

Do:

✔ Choose pieces you can move in

✔ Stick to a neutral or earth-toned palette

✔ Opt for texture over patterns (linen, denim, lace, wool, silk)

✔ Coordinate, don’t match

Don't:

✖ Wear logos, neon colors, or anything too tight or sheer

✖ Overthink it — if you feel uncomfortable, it’ll show

✖ Bring props unless they actually mean something to you

(My husband & I pictured because I've never had a client take a bad photo.)

What if We're Awkward in front of the camera?

You probably will be —for about five minutes ...

... then you’ll forget you’re being photographed.

Because we’ll move. We’ll walk, we’ll laugh, you’ll tell each other dumb jokes. I’ll guide you when needed and step back when I see magic unfolding on its own. You don’t need to perform. Just show up as you are.

You’re not meant to pose like models. You’re meant to enjoy the moment...  I’ll take care of the rest.

What Happens After?

You’ll get your gallery in one week. You’ll be able to download, share, and order prints directly from your gallery.

Let’s Create Something That Feels Like You

Wherever you're headed, Let's make it unforgettable

I photograph engagement sessions wherever your story takes you. From quiet lakeshores and coastal towns to meaningful places abroad, each session is built around your connection, your rhythm, and the environment that matters to you.

My approach is calm, intentional, and story-driven. I focus on real moments as they unfold, gently guiding when needed, and letting space exist for what’s natural. The result is timeless, cinematic imagery that feels honest, never stiff or over-posed.

Let’s turn this season of your story into something lasting.

Thank you for trusting me to document this season of your lives. Mini sessions are short, but they are about more than photos. They're about slowing down for twenty minutes, being present with the people you love, and having something real to look back on. I'm so grateful you chose me, and I can't wait to make something you'll keep.
